Director of Dining Services

POSITION SUMMARY

 

  • Oversees, manages, plans, directs, organizes, and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Dining Services Department. 

  • Works within established guidelines to ensure the safe, timely, and efficient preparation, delivery, and service of resident and staff meals and snacks as well as food and beverage for special events.

  • Responsible for staff recruitment, selection, training, counseling, performance review, and termination.

  • Recommends and participates in disciplinary action and/or termination of employment for hourly departmental staff.

  • Participates in preparation of departmental budgets and conducts day-to-day operations within budgetary constraints.

  • Performs all duties in compliance with applicable Federal, state, and local regulations.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  • Oversees day-to-day operation of the Dining Services department, to include but not limited to:  staff scheduling, daily staff assignments, and supervision of staff to ensure the timely and efficient preparation, delivery, and service of resident meals and snacks in accordance with established diets and resident likes and dislikes in accordance with established facility policy and all applicable Federal, state, and local regulations. 

  • Monitors the flow of food from vendors through steps of storage, preparation, and delivery to residents and/or staff.

  • Works with Registered Dietician to counsel residents by providing dining recommendations to meet special needs or requests.

  • Monitor and maintain internet-based nutritional data for food served.

  • Exhibits professional standards through appearance and demeanor consistent with facility standards; always dresses and grooms appropriately.

  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of work assignments and performs assignments in a manner to meet quality and timeliness objectives.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education/Certifications:

  • Must possess Certified Dietary Manager certification.

 

Experience:

  • At least one year previous food service management experience, preferably in a long-term care or hospital environment.

  • Previous experience with electronic medical records systems preferred.

RN/LPN

Working every other weekend. Excellent CNA to patient ratio. Housekeeping/Laundry Aide
(1) Full Time Position and (2) Part-Time Positions

POSITION SUMMARY

  • Assists Director of Environmental services in ensuring that the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, sanitary, and comfortable manner.

  • Responsible for operating and tending washing machines to wash residents’ clothing as well as facility garments, such as draperies, linens, rugs, carpets, etc.

  • Performs all duties in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards governing the facility as well as established policies and procedures.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS FOR HOUSEKEEPING

 

  • Carry linens, towels, toilet items, and cleaning supplies, using wheeled carts.

  • Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas so that health standards are met.

  • Empty wastebaskets and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas.

  • Replenish supplies, such as drinking cups, linens and bathroom items.

  • Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.

  • Dust and polish furniture and equipment.

  • Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies, using vacuum cleaners.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF LAUNDRY AIDE

 

  • Receive and mark articles for laundry with identifying names, using hand or machine markers.

  • Examine and sort into lots to be cleaned, according to color, fabric, dirt content and cleaning technique required.

  • Inspect soiled articles to determine sources of stains, to locate color imperfections, and to identify items requiring special treatment.

 

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

 

  • Exterior work, including but not limited to cleaning sidewalks and driveways, removing litter, and sweeping entrance.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education/Certifications:

  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred.

 

Skills:

  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions and apply problem solving and critical thinking in performance of duties.

  • Ability to read and understand chemical warnings on all supplies associated with the job and familiar with SDS locations for products used.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with residents/patients, staff, and family members.

  • Must exhibit patience and a positive attitude towards the elderly population and a desire to provide a service to the community.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, bend, and reach for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently (up to 90% of the time spent in performance of duties) and up to 50 pounds occasionally (up to 10% of the time spent in performance of duties).

  • Ability to work with chemical cleaning agents, sprays, and disinfectants as needed.

  • Manual dexterity that allows grasping, carrying, and holding cleaning equipment and supplies as needed to perform tasks.
