Dogwood Village September 2026 Newsletter
September is here, bringing the first hints of fall, cooler mornings, and the beginning of a beautiful new season! As summer slowly gives way to autumn, we look forward to enjoying the changing season and all the wonderful moments it brings. It’s a perfect time to gather with loved ones, enjoy the crisp air, and appreciate the simple joys of each day.
As we welcome September, we encourage all our residents to continue making their health and well-being a priority. Take time to enjoy the outdoors when the weather is comfortable, participate in our activities and special events, and make time for relaxation and connection. Whether you're enjoying a favorite hobby, sharing a conversation with friends, or simply taking in the beauty of the season, we hope September brings comfort, happiness, and meaningful moments to everyone in our Dogwood Village community.
As we begin a new month, we look back with gratitude on all the wonderful moments we shared throughout August. From fun activities and special celebrations to the laughter, friendships, and everyday moments that make our community feel like home, August was filled with memories to cherish. We are excited to welcome September with new experiences, meaningful connections, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the beginning of fall together.
Celebrating Our Wonderful Volunteer, Katherine
We’re saying a bittersweet goodbye to our wonderful volunteer, Katherine, as she heads back to school at JMU! Katherine became such a special part of our Dogwood Village family this summer. Her kindness, compassion, laughter, and dedication touched the hearts of our residents and staff. We’ll miss her dearly, but we’re so excited for this next chapter! Thank you, Katherine, for all the wonderful memories you brought to Dogwood Village. We hope you’ll come back to visit—and volunteer—with us again!
Good luck at JMU, Katherine! You’ll always have a place here at Dogwood Village!
Orange County Chamber Banquet Celebration
We had such a wonderful evening at the Orange County Chamber of Commerce Banquet! We are truly grateful to be part of such a welcoming community and to have the opportunity to gather with so many wonderful people. It was a beautiful evening filled with great company, delicious food, and special memories. We also want to give a special congratulations to our very own Marketing Coordinator, Kate, on her nomination for the Young Professionals Award! We are incredibly proud of her and thankful for everything she brings to our Dogwood Village team. A heartfelt thank you to the Orange County Chamber of Commerce for your continued support and for all you do to bring our community together. We are grateful to be a part of it!
Wild West Round-Up
Yeehaw! Our residents had a rootin’ tootin’ good time making memories, sharing smiles, and enjoying some Wild West fun! Everyone enjoyed a day filled with laughter, friendship, and plenty of Western spirit!
OCHS Hornets Visit Dogwood Village
We were thrilled to welcome the Orange County High School Hornets to Dogwood Village! Our residents enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with OCHS football players and cheerleaders filled with bingo, dirty sodas, laughter, and great conversations. It was a joy to see generations come together and create special memories. A special thank you to our Activities Department and the OCHS Hornets for making this visit possible. We look forward to more opportunities to connect and create meaningful moments together!
August Staff Town Hall Raffle Winners
Congratulations to our August Town Hall raffle winners! Thank you for all that you do. We are so lucky to have you as part of the Dogwood Village team! Your hard work, dedication, and positive spirit make a difference every day.
Celebrating Bobby’s Service and Legacy
We are honored to recognize one of our very special assisted living residents, Bobby. His family recently participated in a beautiful pinning ceremony with Hospice of the Piedmont, honoring Bobby and his years of dedicated military service. Bobby is an incredible person, and we feel fortunate to know him, care for him, and witness the strength and kindness he brings each day. His service and life story are an inspiration to everyone around him. A heartfelt thank you to our staff for the compassion and care they continue to show Bobby. We are truly honored to have him as part of the Dogwood Village family. Thank you, Bobby, for your service and for allowing us to be part of your journey.

Whitney Terrell
Meet Whitney, who has served as the Medical Supplies Coordinator and CNA at Dogwood Village for the past 6 years. “What I love most about Dogwood is the opportunity to help others and build meaningful connections with our residents. Their stories have taught me to appreciate life and enjoy the little things. What makes Dogwood special is the people and the genuine care we show our residents, families, and staff. I always try to share a smile because a little positivity can make a big difference.”

Meet Becky, a resident of Assisted Living, and Katie, a Speech Language Pathologist. We are thrilled to announce National Assisted Living Week. From September 13th to the 19th, join us in celebrating this special week with a range of enjoyable activities for residents and their families. We anticipate a week full of connection, celebration, and meaningful moments together.

Come and enjoy two thrilling events at Dogwood Village this September! On September 7th, both buildings will host a Labor Day Social with sweet treats, great company, and loads of fun. Later, on September 23rd at 9:00 AM, join us for our Bake Sale, offering a wide range of delicious homemade goodies. We can't wait to celebrate with you this September!
