Senior Living Resident Spotlight – Don Detwiler

Mr. Don Detwiler was born and raised in Clifton, VA. Shortly after graduating high school Don moved to Washington, D.C. and began working in a shoe shop mastering all things shoe related. In the year 1948 at just 18 years old he joined the military and spent the next four years defending the proud freedoms of our country.

Once he returned home from the service, he worked for Steam Fitters Local until his retirement in 1960. Don is the loving father of two daughters and his late son, David. He is also the proud grandfather of 5 grandchildren and 1 granddaughter.

For the last 40 years Don has shared a wonderful relationship with a woman by the name of Phyllis Halloway whom he visits multiple times a week. He has lived his life as a simple man with a tremendous work ethic and tenacity for life, but the one thing he holds most dear is the unbreakable bond he shares with his daughter Donna.
