The Snoezelen Room at Dogwood Village

Dogwood Village has added a Snoezelen Room which is an excellent resource for residents who exhibit unusual anxiety or behaviors. The intent of the room is to provide a calming atmosphere to aid in minimizing stimulation while providing the resident with a type of tactile, auditory and olfactory stimulation that will hopefully deescalate their anxiety or behaviors. Dogwood was able to offer this service, thanks to two grants received from the Gordonsville Medical Aid Fund and the Lake of the Woods Lion’s Club. The room has been dedicated to Jenifer Harper, RN Infection Preventionist, who died unexpectantly last year. Her son, Ethan Foster and mother Shirley Harper were present for the dedication. Many thanks to all those who assisted with the this very special project.
