Health & Rehab Resident Spotlight – Doris J. MacEwan


Mrs. Doris J. MacEwan was born in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1932. She was raised in Somerset, Virginia where her father ran the Somerset Store. She was an only child and graduated from Orange County High School in 1948 at the age of sixteen. After graduation she attended West Hampton College in Richmond, Virginia where she majored in sociology and psychology. In 1960, Doris married Mr. Elwood Arthur MacEwan. They have twin daughters; Gayle lives in Ontario, Canada and Glenna lives in Alberta, Canada. Doris and her family have lived in Germany and Canada have traveled to Europe. Doris has had many interesting jobs throughout her life; a fifth-grade teacher in Spotsylvania, Bank of Fredericksburg, National Academy of Science in D.C., librarian in Canada, personnel office at UVA and a clerk for the FBI. Doris loves to read and continues to write in her journal daily. She is a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Orange. Doris has been a resident at Dogwood Village since May 2017.
