Senior Living Resident Spotlight – Betty Wright

Betty Wright, who is the oldest of five siblings, was born in Liberty, South Carolina and was raised in Lyman, South Carolina. After graduating from high school, she attended Mars Hill College in North Carolina but graduated with a degree in English Literature from Furman College. Soon after graduation, she got married and had two wonderful sons, Jimmy and Robert. In 1968 they relocated to Woodberry Forest School. There she raised her children and became the “stay at home Headmasters wife”. During that time Betty kept herself occupied with her two boys and many community clubs including the Dolly Madison Garden Club and the Woman’s Club of Orange. She enjoys puzzles, music, television, piano music (she use to play), and most of all reading. Betty stated that her greatest accomplishment in life is being the Headmaster’s wife and taking care of her children.
