Richard “Dick” Butterworth grew-up in Fairmont, North Carolina with his parents, 2 sisters and 1 brother. Dick fell in love with his wife, Peggy while both were attending the University of Richmond where they were set up on a blind date. They both graduated and Mrs. Butterworth worked as a teacher, educating children from elementary through high school while Mr. Butterworth practiced as a Dentist for over 30 plus years before retiring.
Together the couple raised four boys Tom, Richard, Mike and Barry, who have given them three granddaughters and two grandsons. Dick enjoyed in his younger years nothing more than coaching a variety of Little League Sports. He moved to Dogwood Village in 2017 from Dinwiddie, Va. with his wife to be closer to family. Dick is very proud of the number of lives he was able to touch through couching and is still an avid sports enthusiast.
